Senior Professional Officer - Data Analys

Requirements

The Data Science branch forms part of the Organisational

Performance Management department in the Future Planning &

Resilience directorate, and is responsible for the City’s data science

initiatives. We are looking for a data analyst who is comfortable with

statistical reasoning, working with open source technologies and

motivated to learn and acquire knowledge

The position will work on diverse data science initiatives across the

organisation, developing user facing data products that help

improve the organisations strategic and operational

decision-making. This is an exciting opportunity to work with a

highly-skilled and dynamic team and make a difference to the lives

of all residents in Cape Town

  • A relevant tertiary qualification (honours or 4-year degree),
preferably in Statistics, Mathematics, Actuarial Science, Operations

Research, Engineering, Computer Science, Finance or related field

  • Minimum of five (5) to eight (8) years’ relevant experience

  • Data Management: To understand data sources, data organisation
and storage.

  • Data Cleansing and Enrichment: To understand and apply
knowledge of data cleansing and standardisation

  • Data Quality Assurance: To conduct data quality assurance,
validation, and linkage.

  • Collaboration: To collaborate with technical and non-technical
colleagues

  • Communication: To listen attentively, grasp issues, present
